Week & Forum 2017
This year's Women in Tech Forum carries the theme of "Women matter in tech: Success stories". The international one-day event will be held on 11 October, in Finlandia Hall, Helsinki. We have also a series of smaller events all through the Women in Tech Week 9-13 October.
The most anticipated event of the year is the Women in Tech Forum, this time organized under the theme of Women matter in tech: Success stories. On the 11th of October we will fill Finlandia Hall with women and men sharing a keen interest in the future of business and technology. Be there!
Speakers of the Forum
André Noël Chaker
André Noël Chaker, was voted Speaker of the Year 2012 by the customers of Speakers Forum Finland and again Speaker, Moderator and Coach of the year at the Finnish Evento Awards 2014. In 2016, he was voted Moderator of the Year by the customers of Speakers Forum. Some of the reasons for his elections are his exceptional mastery of both English and Finnish (his 5th language) and his unique ability to perform both as a world-class inspirational speaker and a highly versatile moderator and host.
He has hosted the Nordic Business Forum, one of the world’s premier business events, on four occasions. He has hosted many of Finland’s premier events with the past three Presidents of the Republic of Finland, the King of Sweden and some of the top business and political leaders in the world including Jack Welch, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Collins. Over the past four years he has been the most sold speaker and moderator in Finland with appearances in over 400 national and international events.
André is a speaker, a writer, a performer, an entrepreneur and a business executive all rolled into one person. He is a law graduate from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He also holds an MBA in Finance from Aalto University, Finland.
André has published six books and one of his latest ones, The Finnish Miracle, has become a best-seller in Finland. He has recently published a book called “Santa’s Dream”, which is about teaching children and adults how to make dreams come true. He has also recorded a number of hit songs and performed on national television as a singer, panelist and host. As an entrepreneur, André has been a leading force in many technology, gaming and sports related start-up ventures. He served as Director of Entertainment and Senior Advisor of the CEO of the Finnish National Lottery, Veikkaus Oy for nine years.
Risto Siilasmaa is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nokia. Under his tenure Nokia has successfully transformed from a mobile phone manufacturer to a leading communication technology company. Risto Siilasmaa is the founder of F-Secure Corporation and an entrepreneur at heart. He is also an active contributor in many European and Asian industry associations and public debate. He is the Chairman of the Board of the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries and the Vice Chairman of the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK). He is also a member of the European Roundtable of Industrialists (ERT), the Tsinghua SEM Advisory Board at Tsinghua University and the International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing.
Elina Björklund was appointed as the CEO of Reima Oy in 2012. Reima is the leading Nordic functional kids wear brand currently owned by Riverside, the US based private equity investor.
Prior to joining Reima, Elina was Partner and Director of Management Consultancy B&B Advisors in Shanghai, China. Prior to this her working history included executive roles in companies Fiskars Plc and Iittala Group. She started her career in banking and held a position of Chief equity analyst and Deputy Managing Director of Merita Securities (currently Nordea) between 1996-1999.
Elina has had several positions of trust throughout her career including Marimekko Plc and Finnair Plc.
She holds a M.Sc (Economics) from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration. She has also attended the MBA Finance Programme at the City University Business School in London and studied in International Design Business Management pro –programme at the Aalto University in Helsinki.
Jessica Öberg started at Saab as a local software developer and are now, 20 years later, managing a global operation with business, products and services that are well in line with Saab vision “It’s a human right to feel safe”. The portfolio includes integrated communication solutions on the global defence market but also control room solutions for public safety agencies worldwide. Even though Jessica graduated as an engineer, it was not an obvious choice for her, but her curiosity, drive and courage has been useful characteristics in her career.
Jessica is also engaged in Saab corporate social responsibility to promote education and an early interest in technology, a commitment for children through elementary school to Saab’s technical high school.
